Summer weather and then … “severe change”

Today, on Friday, high temperatures for the season and summer will prevail in the country.

However, meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis predicts a “severe change in the weather” from next Sunday.

“The weather will be summer-like across the country by Sunday, with the mercury rising to around 34-35°, sunshine dominating and winds generally not a problem.

But after this summer break, there will be a drastic change in the weather, bringing with it a sharp drop in temperature, dangerous thunderstorms and dangerous winds, which will change around midday on Sunday and from north to south.

The reason for this severe weather change is the movement of the cold front from central Europe towards our country, as shown in our map below.

Thus, it will lead to a violent collision of gas masses with different thermo-hygrometric properties, resulting in a strong pressure difference, which will lead to locally stormy northwesterly winds, but also strong instability initially in the north and further east and south on Monday.

The temperature chart is typical for the Athens region, where we will see temperatures around 34° to 35° on Sunday, while Monday’s mercury is not expected to be as warm as 26° to 27°C,” he writes.
